Suspect arrested after shots fired incident

A suspect was arrested after a shots fired incident Sunday night on Gospel of Peace Road.

Deputies were notified of a disturbance involving gunfire about 8:40 p.m. and arrived to find two men standing in the roadway yelling at each other and 28-year old Richard Spain of Hopkinsville was allegedly pointing a gun at the other man’s face.

Deputy Rick Burgess announced himself as being police and Spain backed across the road and behind a tree. He was found placing a revolver in his boot and he complied with orders to get on the ground.

An arrest citation says there was a strong odor of alcohol on his person and that he tried to hide three spent casings and one live round in the police cruiser.

Spain is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, tampering with evidence, carrying a concealed deadly weapon and public intoxication.
