In making its first Sweet 16 appearance since 1942, Walton-Verona defeated Knox Central 76-54 to win its first ever game in Sweet 16 history. The Bearcats are now 28-6 on the season. The second game in the afternoon session went to Trinity, who routed Johnson Central 70-28. The Shamrocks are now 27-8 on the season .
In the evening session, undefeated John Hardin was upset by Campbell County 61-60. The Camels are 30-4 on the season and will face Walton-Verona Friday in the first quarterfinal game. Third region winner Owensboro was knocked off by Ashland Blazer 58-50. The Tomcats are 18-16 and will face Trinity in the second quarterfinal game Friday.

Butler faces Perry County Central in the first afternoon game at 11 am Hopkinsville time followed by Covington Catholic and Scott County, the top ranked team in the state.
The evening session has 2nd region winner Madisonville matching wits with former UHA coach Jeff Jackson and Lincoln County at 5:30 followed by 4th region winner Warren Central and 1st region winner Mayfield.
