HCA celebrates 25 years in Hopkinsville

Heritage Christian Academy celebrated 25 years of Christian education in Hopkinsville with a special chapel service at the school Thursday morning.

It featured worship music from a group of alumni and speakers from the past and present of the school.

Mayor Carter Hendricks congratulated Heritage for a quarter century and challenged students to be sure the legacy of HCA remains strong for decades to come.

Pastor Kent Workman was a board member of Heritage when the school quickly organized in 1994 and remembered taking a leap of faith after an initial attempt to partner with University Heights Academy to form a Christian school fell through.

Heritage began in September of 1994 with lower grades at Hillcrest Baptist Church and upper grades at Second Baptist Church.

Twenty-five years later, Workman reminded students that it’s still a privilege to attend the school in Hopkinsville.

While the service was meant to reflect on the history of the school, the future of HCA was also in full view with students from the new Madisonville campus in attendance.
