Trigg Sheriff’s Office gets K9

The Trigg County Sheriff’s Department now has a K9 unit.

Sheriff’s Sgt. David Tomlison will be the handler for Kratos, a 10-month old Belgian Malinois.

A post on the Trigg County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page says the department negotiated a deal where the department isn’t required to make any payment on the dog until July of this year. At that point, they will spend $100 per month for a year while deciding on whether to purchase the dog.

Total cost to purchase the dog would be approximately $4,000.

The sheriff’s department says a great deal of that amount could be met through donations that have been received from citizens of Trigg County.

The K9 will be used to detect narcotics, to track criminals and to assist in searches for missing persons, according to the social media statement.
