Dr. Seuss Read Across America event is Tuesday afternoon at library

Children who are fans of Dr. Seuss will want to be at the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library Tuesday night for a Read Across America event.

Library Executive Director Deanna Sova says education students at Murray State approached her wanting to host an event near Dr. Seuss’s birthday that would also bring awareness to the local Imagination Library.

It’s set for 4:30 until 6 p.m. Tuesday and Sova says there will be crafts, refreshments and local ‘celebrity’ readers presenting Seuss works.

Families will be able to sign up their children who are under the age of five for the imagination library program and Sova says members of the community can learn how just $25 a year can sponsor a child to receive an age-appropriate book through the mail each month.

Children and adults will also be able to sign up for a library card, if they don’t already have one.
