Boys 2nd Region: UHA and Madisonville advance to title game

University Heights dominated Caldwell County in the first semifinal game 96-60. The Blazers shot 73 percent in the first half and 65.5 percent for the game in getting their 30th win of the season to go with four losses. KyKy Tandy had a game high 36 points for UHA with Drew McGowan adding 20 and KJ Crump with 11. Caldwell County was led by Derrin Boyd’s 19 points as the Tigers had three players in double figures finishing the season 19-10.

Madisonville won the second semifinal game cruising to a 66-49 victory over Henderson County. Kenny White led the Maroons with 21 points as Madisonville won its 21st game in a row in improving to 28-5. Mykel Sanner led the Colonels with 17 points as Henderson County wrapped up the season 16-12.

University Heights and Madisonville meet for the championship this evening. The Maroons are trying to become the first team since they last won the 2nd region title in 2001 to unseat an 8th district team. The teams met early in the season with UHA getting an 80-79 win.
