A Hopkinsville couple were arrested on charges of felony shoplifting Sunday.
According to the Hopkinsville police report, 35-year old Gary Word and 37-year old Ashley Word, both of Hopkinsville, were allegedly seen concealing and removing around $557 worth of items from the Indian Hills Thrift Store sometime Saturday. Video surveillance allegedly shows the two passing items through clothing racks while standing in adjacent aisles. Ashley Word allegedly removed the items, which included a razor kit, from their packaging before the box was placed back in its location, missing items.
The damage to the packaging rendered the remaining item unsellable. The business contacted the Words directly and Gary Word returned the stolen items, which were reportedly damaged and unsellable.
He allegedly got into the manager’s personal space while returning the items and said, “this ain’t over between you and me”.
Both Words were arrested and charged with felony shoplifting while Gary Word was additionally charged with intimidating a participant in the legal process.
