Christian County High School Air Force JROTC cadet Daniel Foti won the rifle national championship last month in Port Clinton, Ohio.
The school system says 125 shooters qualified out of 2,200 participants from across the country. The two-day competition consists of shooting three positions in multiple 20 shot sets for two consecutive days.
Foti won the North Division championship with an overall score of 1185.7 with 31 “bulls-eyes” and defeated the South champion 20 points and the West champion by 29 points for the National Championship.
Cadet Foti will now compete in JROTC All-Service Championship in Anniston, Alabama next month. The All-Service Championship represents four branches of service; Air Force, Army, Marines, and Navy and is comprised of 144 shooters remaining out of over 12,000 participants.
