CCHD encourages active lifestyles, check ups for heart health

February is Heart Health Month and the Christian County Health Department is urging people to get active for good hearth health and monitor their cholesterol and blood pressure levels.

Amanda Bassingthwaite with the department appeared on WHOP Wednesday and says heart health is all about preventative measures. She says 1 in 3 people are often unaware they have high blood cholesterol and it’s one of the leading contributors to heart disease.

She says the department offers a quick test that can determine a person’s cholesterol, blood pressure and other numbers so any health issues can be caught early and treatment can get started as needed.

Bassingthwaite says getting regular exercise and maintaining healthy eating habits can also go a long way in taking care of your heart. The test is $30 to take and results can be seen in as soon as 15 minutes.
