Man arrested for menacing, weapons charge

A man involved in an accident at North Drive and Seventh Street Friday afternoon was arrested a couple hours later after he allegedly acted in a threatening manner to the other driver.

The crash happened about 2:40 p.m. and an arrest citation says 55-year old Orril Brent Martin of Hopkinsville initially left the scene, but later stopped and contacted the other party at another location.

Martin offered to pay for the damage to the other vehicle, but became angry when the man said he wanted a police report. Martin allegedly got very close to the victim, yelled and reached behind his back as if he had a weapon.

Martin took himself to the Jennie Stuart Medical Center emergency room, where police found him and a report says his vehicle smelled of marijuana. A search allegedly revealed a large kitchen knife concealed in a backpack that was in Martin’s reach.

He was arrested for being a convicted felon carrying a concealed weapon and menacing.
