Home heavily damaged, dog rescued in East 19th Street house fire

Fire caused heavy damage to a home on East 19th Street.

Firefighters were called to 911 East 19th just before 5 pm and Deputy Chief Steve Futrell says flames were coming from the residence when firefighters arrived, no one was home when the fire occurred and the cause is unknown.

The secondary search of the home turned up a dog hiding under a bed who appeared to be unharmed. No one was injured in the blaze and the cause remains under investigation.
