Austin Peay alum AJ Ellis has retired after 11 big league seasons to become a special assistant to the San Diego Padres. Ellis spent the bulk of his career with the Los Angeles Dodgers and was the preferred catcher for hurler Clayton Kershaw. He played with the Padres last season after being traded to Philadelphia in 2016 and Miami in 2017.
