Three people were arrested by the Christian County Sheriff’s Department on animal cruelty charges Friday.

Deputies were called to the 11000 block of Newstead Road regarding a complaint of dogs in poor health and found four very malnourished dogs, according to a report. The animals were seized and taken to the Christian County Animal Shelter.

Police say they’ve been called to the same home multiple times in the past regarding the dogs being underfed. Each time the owners have said they’ll get the dogs proper care, but their health has continued to deteriorate. One of the dog’s intestines were protruding, according to the report.

Deputies arrested 29-year old Johnathon Trotter, 30-year old Tija Encinias and 20-year rold Danny Encinias of Hopkinsville for second-degree cruelty to animals.
