The Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library will be hosting several upcoming events, a few them tied to the Big Read.
Executive Director Deanna Sova appeared on WHOP and says they’ve already had several events tied into this year’s Big Read novel, “The Things They Carried” by Tim O’Brien and they’re eager to host more.
She says on Thursday, starting at 5:30 p.m. will be a “book tasting”, where people can sample different books with war times themes and taste Vietnamese food.
There will be a book discussion about the novel on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. as readers discuss themes and the art of storytelling. Then, on February 21, attendees can hear a presentation from Cindy Stonebraker, whose father went missing in the Vietnam War. She will tell her story about trying to learn about what happened to her father and the journey she had along the way.
Sova says starting Monday they will have a ‘fine free’ week where people can donate to the veterans’ center and have their late fees forgiven.
