A standoff in Murray early Saturday morning ended with the arrest of a wanted fugitive.
The U.S. Marshalls Service and Calloway County Sheriff’s Department received word that 37-year old Jessie Derrick, who was wanted for federal probation violation, was at the Murray Inn and Art Gallery on South 12th Street.
Officers from multiple agencies converged on his room and he allegedly came to the door and pointed a handgun at deputies.
Derrick then retreated and barricaded himself inside with his girlfriend and infant child.
He came out again with his girlfriend and baby and pointed the gun at police and officers were able to successfully remove the woman and child to safety.
After hours of negotiation, Derrick eventually came outside, dropped his gun and surrendered. No one was injured and Derrick was arrested.
