Cadiz women on mission trip to Haiti uninjured in attack

Two Cadiz residents on a mission trip in Haiti avoided injury this week when their van was targeted in a political attack.

Crossroads Fellowship Pastor Geoff Baggett posted on the church’s Facebook page Friday morning, saying Ramona Alexander and Becky Francis had safely made it to a Haitian airport along with the rest of the group to return home.

Bagget previously said local “agitators” took out their political frustrations on the mission team’s van between the airport and hotel Thursday. All of the van’s windows were broken out, but the only injury was a cut to one woman’s head.

Alexander reportedly called it frightening, but said it could have been much worse.

There were 22 people on the trip to north Haiti sponsored by Mission Discovery and the group had security that helped get them safely to their hotel after the attack. Personnel at the U.S. Embassy and with the State Department recommended that the group evacuate Haiti and return to the United States.

Had they stayed, the group would have had to travel the same stretch of road where the attack happened on a daily basis.
