UPDATED: Woman dies after car goes into creek near Fairview

A Todd County woman died after her car went off US 68 and into a swollen creek about a quarter mile east of Goshen Road near Fairview.

It’s unknown when the incident happened, but Kentucky State Police investigated Thursday afternoon and say 73-year old Helen Miller of Elkton had been headed east when she crossed the median and entered the westbound lanes. Her car then reentered the median and struck the bridge abatement.

Miller’s vehicle went airborne and plunged into the water, drifting about 100 yards south down the creek before coming to rest.

Miller’s body was found near the shoreline not far from the car.

The Todd County Sheriff’s Department, Todd Rescue Squad and Fairview Fire Department assisted at the scene.
