The Hopkinsville Beautification Commission is gearing up several projects, but one of the top priorities is tackling the issue of littering in the city.
Director Heather Braun appeared on WHOP recently and says while littering is a city-wide problem, its particularly bad in certain neighborhoods, like the Woodmill Road area and near Christian County High School. She says they’re going to soon start educational programs at area schools to warn against littering.
She says they will also continue their litter pick up days, with next one taking place on March 2 in the area of CCHS.
Braun says the Commission hopes to launch an “adopt a street” program in the future, where volunteers could take responsibility of picking up litter from a street of their choosing.
