Man injured, charged with DUI after crash

A man was injured and charged with DUI after he crashed his moped into a vehicle Tuesday afternoon on South Main Street.

The collision report from Public Safety Officer Cassidy Woods says 66-year old April Jones of Hopkinsville was northbound on South Main about 3:15 p.m.

Meanwhile, 60-year old Charles Barber of Hopkinsville was attempting to turn his moped right from East 20th onto South Main and struck Jones’ SUV.

Barber was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment of injuries.

He allegedly admitted he had been drinking “a lot” earlier in the day and there was a can of beer in the moped’s console. He was cited into court due to his injuries and is charged with his second DUI, driving on a DUI suspended license and possession of an open alcoholic beverage.
