HHS Band hosting free concert Saturday, gearing up for KMEA

The Hopkinsville High School Band of Tigers will host a free concert for the community Saturday as they gear up for the KMEA Conference next week.

Appearing on WHOP, Band Director Seth Peveler says the band recorded a performance and sent it in to the Kentucky Music Educators Association, who chose them as one of the top three best bands out of 40 who submitted entries.

Peveler says they will perform for KMEA next Thursday in Louisville.

He says before that though, the students wanted to put on a performance for the community, which will take place at the Performing Arts Center at Christian County Middle School at noon on Saturday.

Peveler says the Christian County School Board has agreed to pay for new concert band uniforms for the performance in Louisville, which is required to be exactly 27 minutes long. The performance Saturday is free and will feature flutist Jim Walker, who will also take part in the KMEA conference.
