Fort Campbell opens tax center for soldiers, retirees

Fort Campbell’s Sgt. Brett T. Christian Tax Center is now open for appointments.

Post officials say the tax center on Michigan Avenue offers free tax return preparation to active-duty soldiers and their families and retirees.

Command Sgt. Maj. Jason Osborne is the garrison senior enlisted adviser and says, “I want to thank the brigades for sending their Soldiers to help at the tax center. To get those folks who are really invested plays a huge role in the success of the tax center. It can’t happen without you.”

Each Soldier preparing returns completed two weeks of training sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service and is certified by the IRS.

The center staff can prepare any type of tax return including forms for rental properties, except business returns with a net operating loss and farm income.

The last day to file 2018 taxes is April 15, and the tax office tax season hours will end April 30. Hours of operation are 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays and Days of No Scheduled Activity.

To make an appointment, call 270-798-1040 or walk-in at 43 Michigan Ave., near Screaming Eagle Boulevard.
