First round action began yesterday at the Girls All A State Tournament in Richmond.
University Heights was outscored 34-11 in the second and third periods in falling to Walton Verona 70-36. Senior Alex Juckett led the Lady Blazers in scoring with 11 points with Meghan Adams adding nine points and 10 rebounds with Lily Hendricks pitching in eight. The Lady Blazers are now 12-7 on the season.
In other games: 1st region winner and defending champion Murray held off Danville 56-54, 3rd region winner Owensboro Catholic defeated Brown 73-23 and 4th region winner Metcalfe County topped Louisville Holy Cross 59-35.
Quarterfinal action tomorrow morning has Metcalfe County meeting Covington Holy Cross at 7:30 am followed by Murray and Owensboro Catholic at 9 am.
