Observant citizen helps Clarksville PD nab vehicle burglar

An observant citizen helped Clarksville Police locate a man accused of stealing property out of vehicles earlier this week.

A woman in the Home Depot parking lot called dispatch Monday morning and said she just witnessed a man park beside an unlocked pickup, open the door and remove items. She gave a detailed description of the suspect and his vehicle and officers located 33-year old Nathan Clay about 10 minutes later in the Lowe’s parking lot.

Police say Clay immediately acknowledged he knew why they were there and the stolen property was located in his vehicle—in addition to other items that were stolen in a church parking lot earlier that morning.

Clay was arrested for two counts of vehicle burglary, pill possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.
