Fort Campbell soldier killed in Syria blast

A Fort Campbell soldier has been identified as one of four Americans killed in an explosion earlier this week in Syria.

The Department of Defense says 37-year old Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 Jonathan Farmer, of Boynton Beach, Florida was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group at Fort Campbell.

He is survived by his wife, four children and parents.

ISIS has claimed responsibility for the suicide blast attack.

Officials say Farmer was in Syria supporting Operation Inherent Resolve.
