Local man charged with auto theft, burglary

Hopkinsville Police arrested a man already wanted on warrants for theft of a vehicle Wednesday afternoon.

Officer Tyler Hancock was behind a green Honda driven by 27-year old George Hale of Hopkinsville and recognized it as matching the description of a stolen vehicle.

A computer check of the license plate confirmed it was a stolen car and a traffic stop was initiated after Hale turned into a parking lot on North Main Street.

An arrest citation says items belonging to Hale were found in the car, in addition to marijuana.

He was charged with felony auto theft and possession of marijuana.

Hale was also served with a warrant for second-degree burglary—alleging he entered a home in October and stole several televisions, a Playstation console and a debit card.
