Officers with the Hopkinsville Police Department stopped a burglary in progress at a South McPherson Avenue home Monday afternoon.
Officer Ben Wright responded to 119 South McPherson and could see 47-year old David Williams of Hopkinsville through a window walking in the living room. He was ordered to exit the home and was taken into custody in the front yard.
Williams reportedly told police he had intended to take a pair of boots he saw inside the house.
He was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary.
