United Way needs help in the final stretch of fundraising campaign

The United Way of the Pennyrile’s annual campaign is coming to a close, but they still need donations in the final push before the celebration dinner Thursday.

Appearing on WHOP, Campaign Co-Chair Chris Gilkey says that at the moment, they are currently running behind on their $806,000 goal and need a little more help getting there.

He says help especially needed for Trigg, Caldwell and Todd counties to raise money and help them reach the goal. Co-Chair Russ Guffey says the United Way has an enormous impact on the communities it serves, aiding those agencies and those they support in a multitude of ways.  He says if they reach their goal or surpass it, they can support their current agencies and maybe add more.

Guffey says they really need the community’s help to continue having an impact on the lives of those in need.

The celebration dinner is Thursday evening at 6 p.m. at the James E. Bruce Convention Center and this year’s theme for the campaign is “Dynamic Duos: The United Way and You”.
