Motorcyclist flown to Skyline after East Ninth Street accident

A motorcyclist was flown to a Nashville hospital following an accident Sunday night on East Ninth Street.

The Hopkinsville Police collision report says a car driven by 36-year old Keith Hines of Hopkinsville was southbound between College and Hope streets and was attempting to make a right turn into a parking lot. A motorcycle traveling behind him operated by 51-year old Michael Pettway of Hopkinsville did not stop and struck the car’s passenger side.

Pettway’s helmet came off during the crash and it was located about 15 to 20 feet from where he lying on the ground when officers arrived.

He was taken by EMS to the Air Evac helipad and then flown to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville for treatment of multiple injuries. He was conscious and alert at the scene, according to the report.

Hines was not hurt in the crash.
