Two women were arrested for DUI Friday night following two non-injury crashes in Hopkinsville.

The first happened about 10 p.m. near Food Lion on Pyle Lane, with a police report saying 28-year old Jordan Leigh Latham of Hopkinsville was northbound when she crossed the center line and struck a southbound car driven by 38-year old Joshua Meacham of Hopkinsville head-on.

Witnesses said Latham had left the right side of the road and that she entered oncoming traffic when she over-corrected.

Both drivers were checked out by EMS and refused a trip to the hospital and police say Latham smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech, and had difficulty standing on her own. Officers found an open container of alcohol in her vehicle and Latham was arrested and charged with DUI and possession of the open container.

The second incident was a hit and run that happened about 11 p.m. near East First Street and Greenville Road. As Officer Jamie Gapp was speaking with the victim, that driver saw a red car go by that had struck his vehicle.

Officer Gapp stopped the pickup driven by 23-year old Katricka Wilson of Hopkinsville on East First and found her in the rear seat behind the driver’s seat when he got out. An arrest citation says her credit cards were still in the driver’s seat and she admitted that she had consumed three drinks at a Christmas party earlier in the evening.

She was unable to finish field sobriety tests, smelled of alcohol and was arrested for DUI. She was additionally charged with escape and resisting arrest after she allegedly slipped her hands out of the handcuffs and became belligerent with staff at the Christian County Jail.

Law enforcement agencies across the region are out in full force this holiday weekend to locate and arrest anyone driving impaired—as it’s one of the busiest travel weekends on the calendar.
