This week’s special session of the Kentucky General Assembly called by Governor Matt Bevin for pension reform ended less than 24 hours after it began with no action, but Representative Walker Thomas says it will have to be addressed in 2019.
The Hopkinsville Republican says legislators have to get to work on Kentucky’s failing pension systems during the short session that begins next month.
Senate Bill 151 was deemed unconstitutional due to the process lawmakers used to pass it in the spring, and Thomas isn’t sure if what gets passed in 2019 will be the same or similar.
The 2019 session of the Kentucky General Assembly convenes on January 8th.
