Outgoing city council members Grant, Grimes honored at open house

As the end of the year fast approaches, the City of Hopkinsville took the time to honor and say goodbye to outgoing city councilmembers Wesley Grimes and Thomas Grant Thursday evening.

Presenting both men with a framed certificate thanking them for their of unending service and dedication to the people of Hopkinsville, Mayor Carter Hendricks says they both showed the sort of forward thinking and leadership local government needs.

Grant, who has served on council for six years representing ward one, says he looks forward to seeing Hopkinsville continue to grow.

Grimes has represented ward 11 for 16 years and he says he was happy to do it.  He thanked those who have supported him and encouraged council members to remember always that they work for the people.

Councilmembers will be sworn in at a ceremony on December 27 at 5 p.m. with Darvin Adams representing ward one and Jason Bell representing ward 11. Community members also got to enjoy an open house event Thursday and explore the Municipal Building while enjoying refreshments.
