A McCracken County Detention Center inmate from Livingston County has died after attempting to take his own life Friday.
Kentucky State Police is investigating and says troopers were notified early Friday morning that 35-year old Ronald Ledbetter of Smithland had tried to commit suicide. Jail staff found him in his cell and began first aid until medical crews arrived.
Ledbetter was taken to a local hospital and died Sunday afternoon.
An autopsy was scheduled for Monday the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Madisonville.
