Trenton cuts ribbon on new VFD

The Trenton Volunteer Fire Department cut the ribbon on its new building Saturday morning and officials say it will serve fire-fighters and the community well for years to come.

Mayor Jo Ann Holder says it’s a tangible sign that the small town continues to cherish its volunteer fire department.

She thanked the various agencies and private citizens who helped make it all possible and says the ADA compliant building with restrooms will also serve as Trenton’s voting precinct.

Fire Chief Jonathan Stahl says a new home for the department was much-needed.

Pennyrile Area Development District Associate Director Amy Frogue and state Senator Whitney Westerfield were among those on hand for the ceremony. Westerfield donated the American flag that will fly on a pole donated by Trenton resident Frank Amaro.
