Madisonville man arrested for meth trafficking, other charges

Investigation by police in Hopkins County Monday led to the arrest of a man on drug and gun charges.

A ‘confidential source’ was utilized by the Madisonville-Hopkins County VICE/Narcotics Unit to purchase methamphetamine from 31-year old Robert Torain of Madisonville on multiple occasions, according to a news release.

Officers went to his home on North Kentucky Avenue in Madisonville to arrest him Monday afternoon and police say he resisted and tried to disarm detectives of their duty weapons.

He was eventually taken into custody and a search of the home allegedly revealed a rifle, marijuana and illegal prescription medication.

Torain was arrested and charged with trafficking in meth, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, attempted disarming of a peace officer and resisting arrest.
