Black ice causes injury crash in north Todd Co.

Black ice was a factor in a single-vehicle rollover accident Sunday morning in Todd County that injured the driver.

Todd County Sheriff’s Sgt. Patrick Turner investigated the incident and determined 36-year old David Loyd of Lewisburg had been traveling on Highland Lick Road when he lost control of his pickup on an ice-covered curve about a mile east of North Todd Elementary School.

Loyd crossed the center line, over-corrected and went off the road before coming to rest upside down in a ditch.

He was taken by private vehicle to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries, according to Sgt. Turner, who urged residents to avoid travel if possible until temperatures got above freezing and allowed black ice to melt.
