Reports tell why Denzil Ware didn’t play for UK in last year’s Music City Bowl

Multiple reports have unsurfaced why former Kentucky football player Denzil Ware was held out of last year’s Music City Bowl loss to Northwestern. Both the Lexington Herald Leader and Courier Journal report Ware allegedly accepted over $1,600 from someone who triggered the NCAA’s definition of an agent.

The Courier Journal in its story reported Kentucky self-reported the rules violation to the SEC and NCAA. Both entities accepted UK’s self-imposed punishment and did not assess further penalties.

Ware transferred to Jacksonville State after graduation from UK last spring and played for the Gamecocks this past season.
