Fort Campbell soldiers can receive free Christmas tree on post Saturday

Fort Campbell soldiers will have an opportunity to receive a free Christmas tree Saturday through the Trees for Troops program.

Officials on post say Trees for Troops brings together FedEx, the Christmas SPIRIT Foundation and tree farmers across America to deliver real Christmas trees to service members stationed across the U.S. and overseas.

Fort Campbell is expecting approximately 500 trees. Trees will be available on a first come, first served basis to active-duty soldiers or their spouses with a military ID.

Trees will be given to junior enlisted soldiers from 9:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the South Sports Complex parking lot located at the corner of Air Assault Street and Wickham Avenue on Fort Campbell. Any active duty soldier can pick up a tree while supplies last from 2 until 4:30.

Organizers say soldiers should bring a blanket and rope to secure the tree to their vehicle.
