Sheriff Leavell hires DeArmond as deputy to ensure smooth transition

Christian County Sheriff Livy Leavell has hired Sheriff-Elect Tyler DeArmond as a deputy to ensure a smooth transition.

That’s according to the sheriff’s department’s website, which says DeArmond was hired effective December 1st.

Sheriff-Elect DeArmond will be taking over operations at the Christian County Sheriff’s Office, effective January 1st, and Sheriff Leavell will retire on December 31st.

Sheriff Leavell says he made the decision to hire DeArmond on the early date in December “in order to make the transition into his new position as sheriff as smooth as possible for him, the employees and the community.”

Leavell and DeArmond will be coordinating together this month to ensure that there is no break in service or protection to the community, according to the post.

The outgoing sheriff uses the occasion to thank the citizens of Christian County for allowing him to serve for over 40 years in law enforcement and says, “It has been an honor and a privilege.”
