University of Kentucky and former McCracken County standout Zy’Aire Hughes was arrested early Sunday morning in Lexington. According to the Fayette County Jail, the 21-year-old Hughes was arrested on Woodland Avenue in Lexington and charged with fourth degree assault. The Lexington Herald Leader reports Hughes allegedly assaulted his girlfriend in an apartment.
The Lexington Herald Leader reports UK coach Mark Stoops said in a statement the school is gathering information and will address the matter as facts are determined. Hughes played in seven games in the regular season for the 9-3 Wildcats catching two passes for 63 yards and a touchdown against Murray State.
