Arrest made in connection with Thanksgiving morning incident

An arrest has been made in connection with an incident that began Thanksgiving morning at Grupo Antolin.

An arrest warrant for theft of an automobile, fleeing or evading police, criminal mischief and disregarding a traffic control device was served Thursday afternoon against 21-year old Geovante Poindexter of Hopkinsville.

It alleges that Poindexter went to the factory where the mother of his child works, assaulted her and then fled in a stolen car when he saw police.

He allegedly reached speeds in excess of 100 mph, ran a red light at Fort Campbell Boulevard and the Bypass and then crashed into a utility pole.

The owner of the car said it was stolen out of her driveway and that she was only vaguely acquainted with Poindexter on Facebook.

Poindexter was lodged in the Christian County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
