Man served with warrant for jailhouse assault

An arrest warrant for felony assault was served Monday night against a man accused of injuring another inmate when he and the victim were in jail.

The alleged incident happened in October at the Christian County Jail and the warrant for 30-year old Brandon Laurenzana of Hopkinsville alleges he punched Timothy Chilton in the face, breaking his jaw bone.

The incident was captured on video surveillance and Kentucky State Police was able to determine Laurenzana threw the first punch. Investigation determined Chilton had approached Laurenzana to confront him regarding a possible theft.

Laurenzana was booked back in the Christian County Jail, charged with second-degree assault.
