Hopkinsville Electric is throwing a celebration party for the Hunting Creek neighborhood on Tuesday, as it will be the first neighborhood where their new fiber network will be implemented.
According to a news release, the connect celebration will take place at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the end of Hunting Creek Road and residents of the area invited to attend to learn more about the service and information concerning installation. The public is also asked to attend to learn about how they can bring the fiber gigabit internet service to their neighborhoods.
Gigabit fiber internet, offering speeds up to 1,000 mbps, is 100 times faster than average internet service in the area. The company will be the largest provider of gigabit fiber internet service in Hopkinsville, and joins a handful of U.S. cities providing such a service city-wide. Internet packages start at $59 a month for Energynet’s fiber internet service and there are additional packages available.
Hopkinsville and Christian County residents can visit go-energynet dot com and input their home address to express their interest in signing up.
