UK falls in season opener to Duke

Freshmen RJ Barrett and Zion Williamson combined for 61 points as third-ranked Duke crushed second-ranked Kentucky 118-84 in the nightcap of the Champions Classic in Indianapolis. Keldon Johnson netted 23 points to pace Kentucky, which fell to 9-and-1 in season openers under Coach John Calipari:

In the opening game of the Champions Classic, top ranked Kansas held off 10th ranked Michigan State 92-87.

In other SEC action last night: Jordan Bones had 18 points and Kyle Alexander added 16 as 6th ranked Tennessee routed Lenior Rhyne 86-41 and Vanderbilt cruised by Winthrop 92-79.
