UK’s Allen semifinalist for a couple of national awards

Kentucky linebacker Josh Allen has been named as a semi-finalist for a pair of national awards. The Montclair, NJ native is a semifinalist for the Dick Butkus and Chuck Bednarik Awards. Allen is coming off a big day in Saturday’s win over Missouri in which he had 11 tackles and two quarterback sacks.

The Butkus Award is presented to the nation’s outstanding linebacker while the Bednarik Award is presented to the nation’s outstanding defensive player.

Meanwhile, Allen also received the Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his performance at Missouri. It’s the fourth time this season he has won the award. Also, Lynn Bowden received the SEC’s Special Teams Player of the Week award for his 4th quarter 67 yard punt return for a touchdown in Saturday’s win at Missouri.
