Todd Co. District 4 magistrate candidates talk workforce training

Training a workforce for new jobs was a focus of a recent Rotary Club of Elkton debate between the two candidates for Todd Fiscal Court magistrate in District 4.

Incumbent Democrat Brent Spurlin says he’s proud of the partnerships that brought the Todd County Career Path Institute to the campus of the high school, but believes everyone involved could do a better job of using it to prepare individuals to work at the new Novelis plant and other industries.

Republican Kenneth Greenfield says Todd County has to find new opportunities to keep its young people home after high school or college.

Spurlin touted the growth of the Todd County Sheriff’s Department through additional funding from fiscal court and Greenfield wants to provide additional activities for youth in Todd County.
