Alhambra reopening delayed by about 2 weeks

The reopening of the Alhambra Theatre has been delayed by about two weeks as the final phases of the renovation process are still in progress.

Christian County Treasurer Walter Cummings is on the committee overseeing the project and says a delay in installation of the elevator is one reason why the reopening of the Alhambra was postponed from November 9th to the 24th when the Steeldrivers are set to perform.

Fiscal Court also approved a resolution Tuesday morning designating the Industrial Development Authority as the agency to receive TVA in lieu of taxes funds that must be used for economic development.

Christian County could receive $50,000 the first year and Judge-Executive Steve Tribble says it can be used for incentives to bring new industry to the community, with the approval of the Department for Local Government.

The funds in lieu of taxes are now going to counties where TVA maintains property and infrastructure. The money was redistributed among counties across Kentucky before legislation approved by this year’s General Assembly.
