KSP: Hopkinsville woman brought in drugs, assaulted staff at prison

A Hopkinsville woman is facing multiple charges, including assault, trafficking in methamphetamine and other drugs after she allegedly attempted to bring them into the Green River Correctional Complex.

According to the report from Kentucky State Police, troopers responded to the prison in Muhlenberg County around 1:30 p.m. on Friday for a promoting contraband complaint. Investigation determined that 36-year old Jenicia Bussell of Hopkinsville had entered the prison and was caught by staff with alleged contraband on her person.

During the encounter with prison staff, Bussell allegedly assaulted a staff member, causing minor injuries, and threatened others.

Bussell was arrested and charged with first-degree promoting contraband, third-degree assault of an officer, tampering with physical evidence, menacing, trafficking in meth, trafficking in cocaine, trafficking in marijuana, trafficking in a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia
