Two injured, one flown to Nashville hospital in South Main Street wreck

Two people were hurt in a wreck in the 1400 block of South Main Street in Hopkinsville Thursday afternoon with one person flown to a Nashville hospital.

Hopkinsville Police Department Sgt. Tony Sierra spoke with WHOP News at the scene and says both vehicles were travelling on South Main when the wreck occurred, sending the truck off the road and into a utility pole.

Forty-four-year-old Maria Rivera was driving the car and sustained what Sgt. Sierra calls minor injuries. The driver of the pickup, 46-year old James Jackson of Hopkinsville, was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with a broken ankle and other injuries. Rivera was transported by ambulance to Jennie Stuart Medical Center.

South Main Street was blocked for a short time while crews cleaned up the scene.
