Three bronze U.S. veteran grave markers were stolen at Hematite Cemetery in the LBL region of Trigg County earlier this month and U.S. Forestry officials are asking for the public’s help to find whoever is responsible.

The first theft was reported October 3rd and LBL Heritage Program Manager Chris Thornock says they suspect the grave markers are being sold as scrap metal.

He says stealing from any graveyard is a terrible crime.

Thornock says call the U.S. Forestry Service at 1-877-861-2457 and select option 1 if you have information regarding the thefts.

A historic marker on LBL was discovered to be stolen on October 1st.

Officials say they will prosecute the guilty parties when they are located.
