(STATS) – Hurricane Florence is having an impact on numerous
sporting events in the southeastern United States, including
changes in FCS college football.
The growing list in Virginia includes:
– Tennessee State at Hampton, canceled. TSU’s game against Jackson
State last Saturday also was canceled by inclement weather.
– Saint Francis at Richmond, flip-flopped to Saint Francis’ campus
in Loretto, Pennsylvania, and moved up to 5 p.m. ET Thursday.
– Robert Morris at James Madison, shifted from Saturday to 7 p.m.
Thursday in Harrisonburg.
– Elon at William & Mary in Williamsburg, postponed. The
rescheduling of the CAA Football game may depend on FCS playoff
scenarios.
– Norfolk State at Liberty in Lynchburg, moved to Dec. 1. If
Norfolk State makes the playoffs, the game would be canceled.
In North Carolina:
– Campbell’s game against Coastal Carolina will be played Wednesday
(2 p.m.) at Campbell’s Barker-Lane Stadium in Buies Creek. Coastal,
an FBS program, was the original host.
– Davidson’s home game against Guilford, rescheduled to 7 p.m.
Thursday.
– Western Carolina at Gardner-Webb, moved up one day to 6 p.m.
Friday in Boiling Springs.
In South Carolina:
– North Carolina Central at South Carolina State, rescheduled to
Nov. 24 in Orangeburg.
– Charleston Southern at The Citadel, postponed until Nov. 29 at
The Citadel in Charleston. The game will occur only if both teams
do not qualify for the FCS playoffs.
The National Hurricane Center projects Florence to reach the
Carolinas this weekend, although shifts in the track are possible
and surrounding states will feel its impact.
